The Cook family has been providing trusted funeral services for more
than 20 years and is honored to be the owners of Cook Family Funeral
Island – continuing the
funeral home’s tradition of being a family
owned and operated business.
The funeral home was established in the 1940’s. From the Owyens, the
Hess’ and the Kass’ families and now to David and Doreen Cook and
family, service with the family touch continues.
David was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa and Doreen
was born in Pullman,
and later moved with her family to settle in Placerville, California.
David graduated from The University of Utah and The San Francisco
College of Mortuary Science where he served as student body president.
He also volunteered to serve a two year/ full-time mission for his
church in the Sacramento,
David is about his faith, family and community. He is a Patron Member of The Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce and member of the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce. David is currently serving as the Bishop of The Bainbridge Island Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He feels strongly in giving back to his community through financial support to The Bainbridge Island Historical Society, The Bainbridge Public Library, Island Volunteer Care Givers, The US Marine Corps Toys For Tots Campaign and more. David is a firm believer that "together we are stronger".
Doreen graduated from Eldorado High School. The Cooks have six children,
who currently attend elementary thru college. They live in the community
and care about the people who live here also.
The Cook Family Funeral Home offers a full spectrum of funeral and
cremation services. Complete funeral services in churches or other
facilities can be arranged. A family does not need to be a member of a
church or organization in order for David to arrange for use of a
facility. The funeral home is available for viewings and smaller
services. Those who prefer an alternative to traditional service will
find many options available for consideration. They also offer cremation
services of all varieties. Cook Family Funeral Home is experienced in
arranging services and interments throughout the country and forwarding
a loved one to anywhere in the world. The Cooks also assist in the
operation of the cemeteries on Bainbridge Island. They have the answers and
direction you need in a time of need.
The Cooks are your neighbors in Kitsap
working together as a community. They are here for you. Let’s support
David J. Cook and his family – wife Doreen, and children Ashton, Jordan, Sidney, Chloe,
Sophia, Elisha and William. Our oldest son, Ashton Lee Cook married Allison Palmer on
December 29, 2012 in Draper, Utah. Also, we are thrilled to welcome our new

She is a graduate of Bainbridge High School and except for stints in Hawaii and Santa Cruz, California, Teri has called this island her home. In addition to Teri's landscaping design and maintenance business, she has also owned three retail stores.
Teri is very active in
the rescue of farm animals and dogs. Her love for the island extends to her volunteer roles for various nonprofits. Thru Cook Family Funeral Home, Teri appreciates the opportunity to offer compassion to island families through difficult times.
