Art was the greatest guy. Although we didn't see him that often, he always had a big smile on his face, and was genuinely happy to see us. A quick joke, or a witty comment are my fondest memories. He was just awesome!
He has a beautiful family, and I have been very fortunate to know them all for many many years.

dear mary, martin, and mirkovich family,
i missed art's service at st. cecelias, but wanted to tell you what a great employee art was for me- one of the very best out of so many during my 25 years in the gardening business. yes, it's true he was always quick to make jokes,
smile, and see the positive in every situation! everyone appreciated that, and there was one client who only wanted art working in his garden. this guy lived with his wife and was a house-husband for 2 daughters-- obviously, too much female energy for him. when art came by on friday afternoons, they would stand together and make small talk and laugh for long periods of time. boy, was steve lonely when art left!
absolutely no one could rake gardens like art- perfectly symmetrical and wavy lines everywhere. one client came to expect this perfection, and art had to teach the next employee taking over responsibility for that garden how to do it, although the next guy never quite attained the same level of detail. and art was indeed detailled and artistic! he had an eye, the manual dexterity, and the patience to turn large areas of rangey heathers into gently rolling seas and hedges into symmetrical sculptures. he is missed!!!!!

Aunt Mary, Michele, Krista and Douglas -- thank you so much for including our entire clan -- Walters, Wellbrocks and Ehrlichs --in the service and celebration of Uncle Art's life. I think you made us all feel special -- just as you always do. We will miss Uncle Art tremendously but he will always be with us in spirit at all our family gatherings. We have lots of memories to share with Cole, Sam and Uma. Looking around the church yesterday I couldn't help but feel lucky -- to have the family we do -- and to see how many people care about your family. We are truly blessed. XO

Dear Mary,
I didn't get a chance to speak to you at the church as I was constantly surrouned by 1960 classmates. We talked a lot about Art. It's amazing to me that someone so gentle could be so courageous. Your son described his father perfectly.
I use to joke with Art because ,though we shared birthdates, he was born a year earlier. At least someone in our class was older than I and I liked to remind him of that.
The accordion music at the end was a stroke of genius. It was so beautiful, so moving and so appropriate and lifted me off my feet.
I picture you surrounded and protected (as if in a caccoon) by your large famiy so I believe that you are blessed even in this very hard time. All my best to you and your family. And thank God for grandchildren!
With love and affection,

Mary and family
Art will surely be missed a lot especially at our 50th class reunion. When you met Art on occasion it was never about him and always about you. I use to get upset in mechanical drawing class in school because no matter how hard I tried, my drawings were never as clean and neat as Art's. The same thing in wood shop. His projects always turned out perfect. I never did get the talent to compete with Art's skills. Art always had that special smile even the last time I saw him at Martha and Mary.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I remember Art as a kind and gentle guy. I had the pleasure of visiting with him and Mary at one of our last class get togethers at Wyoming Chamberlin's home. I will always be thankful for that time of reflection of times past and the present. I am sad that he will not be with us to celebrate our 50th Class Reunion....but we will not forget him or the others who have passed on before us. I cannot attend the service because of distance but may God grant Grace and Peace to all of you in your sadness.

Mary: I will always consider it an honor and privilege to have known Art. He was a good man, a real professional and a devoted husband and father. Even though our lives took different paths thus seldom crossed, he always had a ready and sincere smile when we did meet. He will be deeply missed. I still remember his love of basketball at B.H.S. and his ability to play the game. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Dear Mary Lou, Michelle, John, Krista, Sanjay, Douglas, Kathy and All The Family of Arthur,

I once gathered and shucked oysters with Art. We ate them immediately and drank a beer (or two). While displaying my delight, he looked at me incredulously and asked, "Are you sure you're from Kansas?"

Art made everyone feel at ease and welcome. He was a gentleman, a true friend and he will always be remembered.

Dear Mary and family: Mollie and I were greatly saddened as we found Art's obituary in the paper this morning. We didn't even know he was ill. We always found him with his large smile and athletic build, totally enjoying life in his Eagledale home and along the shores of Eagle Harbor. I had lots of fun playing baseball and basketball with him on the Bainbridge Properties teams years ago.

Being raised in Eagledale, it was a true pleasure to have know the Mirkovich family. Art, Martin and Marlene were wonderful neighbors. The warmth of the family increased with the arrival of George and Mary Wellbrock.

Mollie and I send our sympathy and love to the family.

I'm sure the family will not remember me. I was among Karen's family of the Karen and Dave Pfeifer union. During the reception I made a toast that may have been viewed as inappropriate and we were soon shunned by the "family." It was this family, known to us as the group from Washington, that graciously warmed to us first. It was because of this man's leadership that he raised a family that could be kind of heart and generous in acceptance. My deepest condolence to all of you as it is these great leaders that are missed the most.

I was the librarian at TRA from 1982-97, and got to know Art when the library was located next to the Civil Engineering department. Art and Dick Reed in Civil Engineering were my nearest 'neighbors' at TRA, and I enjoyed Art's quiet humor and good nature. I also grew up on Bainbridge Island (class of '72) and often chatted with Art about what was happening on the island. I have fond memories of Art. My condolences to the family at losing such a wonderful man.

You'll be missed old friend. I'm sorry that I didn't get by to see you before you left us. A hard lesson, but you've showed me that I shouldn't put off until tomorrow those things that need to be said.... one might never get the chance to say those things that are important in life if one waits. I've got good memories of you, however; seems that you're either laughing or smiling in them. Go with God my friend. Fred

I have many fond memories of Art, Mary and the kids at R-Gang softball games at Battle Point Park or long Yakima tournament weekends. We sure had great family fun and lots of laughter at the games and relaxing around the pool. I will always think of these cherished R-Gang memories as some of the best times of my life. Thank you Art, for your smile and positive outlook on life.

I am currently in Maui and read about Art's passing and would like to offer my sympathy to Mary and family.
Art was a great guy and fun to talk to and be with.
Our conversations go way back to the nights when they were returning home from the Sonics basketball games and I would talk to Art on the ferry after I worked security at the game.
Other times I would visit with Art at Jack's place on the Hood Canal when he and Mary were there.
Art you will be missed by all that were fortunate enough to get to know you.
