I fell in love with Dorothy prior to elementary school. She was staring in the Roaring Twenties on TV and I was sure I was going to marry her some day.
In junior high I met her mother, Irene. We became good friends and kept in contact for most of Irene's remaining years.
I remember dropping by Irene's unannounced and who should answer the door but Dorothy, hiding behind huge sunglasses, a big floppy-rimmed hat, and a scarf. Like that would disguise her voice? It was a hard time for the family having recently lost Bill, (William, Dorothy's dad).
Dorothy, you were a doll and I will always remember your family. Robert, I guess you got to marry her before I had a chance but I understood, through Irene, how much happy you made her life. Sweet dreams Dorothy.

I was a fan of hers. I am sorry to hear that she died but it sounds like she had a good life. She was a lovely talented woman. I was fortunate to have seen her perform in person on The Perry Como Show. May she rest in peace. My sympathy to her family and friends.

My condolences to the Day family. She was one of the musical and movie lights of my life since junior high. I was deeply saddened by her untimely death but but glad that she she had a such a wonderful, full life. Her Roaring 20's albums are among my prized possessions from childhood and I still play them! In fact I have a set also at my Palm Springs place. My sympathy goes out to you. Heaven is surely blessed with the addition of her electric presence but my mother may chastise her for those records that I played full blast over and over and drove her nearly crazy.
Sincerely, Sterling Morris.

I was saddened to read of Dorothy's passing. My husband (now deceased) and I were great fans. Dave knew her mom, Irene Provine, well as they became close friends many years ago when Irene worked at Cordell Jr. High. They were of like minds and, through Irene, knew Dorothy was like-minded as well. I have kept a bundle of letters, poetry, and articles from Irene and many of the letters spoke of Dorothy and family with great love and added happiness with the arrival of Robert, Jr. My condolences to Robert, Rob and family and any extended family. Dorothy once told her mom that a butterfly appeared in the backyard and fluttered around after her dad -, Bill, died. I will think of Dorothy when I see a butterfly.

I had various associations with Dottie from 5th Grade at Haller Lake Grade School through our senior year at Lincoln High School. We played clarinet together in various bands and orchestras. I delivered groceries from my dad's Haller Lake Grocery to her family home, etc. Dottie was always friendly and gracious... and talented. I was pleased to re-establish contact with her several years ago by mail shortly after her mother passed away. In one of her letters she wrote, "You were very gallant about my clarinet playing! I was awful!! I really think I played with a perpetual squeak!" Well, I don't remember that but if it was true, it was one of the very few areas where she wasn't talented. While I haven't seen Dottie in well over 50 years, I am sorry that she is not still with us enjoying her family, her animals, her garden and her books.

Susan, I am sorry at the loss of your sister. Having grown up in the Haller Lake / Jackson Golf course area with plenty of Lincoln High school students in the area. I remember seeing your sister from time to time with her friends and often she would say hello as I would hang around with the younger brothers. Again, very sorry for the loss of your talented sister.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the family. We only knew each other a very short time but she had a place in my heart. She was always the kindest person when she came to the office. I loved sharing pictures of the grandson with her.

I never knew Dorothy personally, but remember her in 3 movies, namely "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Great Race, and That Darn Cat." I was born in 1955 so only have vague recollection of previews of "Roaring 20."

My thoughts and condolences to her family and friends.

Ironically I was just talking about a show called the Roaring Twenties with one of my co-workers and mentioned Dorothy. We are in our mid 50"s. Our fellow employees are too young to know about those wonderful television series back then. Sorry to hear about your loss. Fond memories of her acting......Pamela

I was a huge fan, and had no idea she lived just a few miles away from me! Her charm and humor and beauty were always a joy to watch. What a lucky family she had, to have her in their midst.

Dottie made our world a brighter and better place. She was a fellow classmate at Lincoln High School that always had time to make a new friend and share that gorgeous smile with those around her. I will remember her as a Cheer Leader (Song Leader then) and as the star she was on and off the screen. To have known her was a real privilege. My sympathy goes out to her family and especially to Patty....our classmate in the Lincoln H.S. Class of 1954.

God Bless and hold you close in his hand.

May you, the family, be comforted by happy memories.

Jay Pollette, drama teacher, was always very proud that Dorthy had been one of his students in Seattle and always spoke highly of her. An excellent teacher he always had an autographed photograph of Dorothy in his classroom.

I so enjoyed her in "The Roaring 20's" and "It's a MAD, MAD World".

Sincere sympathy from a longtime fan of Dorothy Provine

I first became aware of Dorothy in "The Alaskans" and went on to follow her career. She was the only actress I ever sent a fan letter to (at Warner Bros.). I bought at the albums and saw every movie. Only when I was older did I learn that she had made her movie debut playing (my cousin) Bonnie Parker. Miss Provine was one of the reasons I began an entertainment industry career. I started in commercials as a child, but now I am a graphic designer for films and television. I watched her because she was always joyous, exuberant and vivacious. The world is a little dimmer without her. My deepest condolences to her husband and son.
