Julie Orr - I will miss Barbara's love of beauty and her gift for creating it. She had a magnificent garden and I learned a lot about the joys of gardening from her, including appreciating and growing antique roses on their own roots. Her paintings reflected her unique view of the world. I met Barbara years ago at Davis Wright Tremaine and wish I had known her better. I am sad that she is gone from us and will treasure my memories of her.

Barbara was my patient for the last several years at the University of Washington Regional Heart Center. I greatly enjoyed our clinic visits as Barbara always had tales to share and took an interest in myself as well. When she learned that I was expecting twins in 2008 she couldn't stop laughing and asking me "what are you going to do?" she was very worried for me. She quickly knitted beautiful hats for the boys and also a lovely cherry blossom hat for my daughter who was two at the time. When Barbara learned how my daughter loved the hat and that it would be too small for this year she knit her another that will last for several years. It is a treasure for my daughter and will be a lasting memory for me of this kind and generous women who touched my life.
Unfortunately I will be unable to attend the memorial service. Condolences to all of her family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Christina Redmond, ARNP
