Ed has been in my thoughts and in my heart over the past couple of months now. I am deaply saddend to learn of his passing. Ed and I developed a long standing friendship many years ago. I have 20+ years of fond memories of him and time we spent together. He was always my go to person when things in my life got challenged. He always had a smile on his face and a love in his heart for others, and a possitive word to share. I know he loved his boys a great deal and was excited when he found out he was going to be a Grandfather. Edward, you are missed. My prayers are with your family.

Back in 1967 at Mt Home AFB, there was a friend of mine by the name of Ed Loverich, he claimed to be from Bainbridge Island. We were both 46250 jet aircraft weapons specialist.
We went to tech school at Lowry AFB, Denver, Colorado and learned to load: bombs, rockets, missles & guns on F-4 fighter aircraft. We got to Mt Home AFB and all they had was RF-4C aircraft. Reconniance F-4 with no weapons capabilities, just cameras and photoflash and extra fuel tanks that hung on the wings and could be jettisoned with small cartridges we installed. So our training for SEA [southeast Asia] involved a lot of photoflash and fuel tank cartridges. And a lot of bookwork to advance in our chosen field. About 1969 most of us young airman were sent to VietNam, Thailand,Guam, Okinawa, and many other tropical hell holes to load the real weapons: bombs, rockets, missiles, guns, napalm,CBU's,LGB's,TVGB's,etc.
Ed was the kind of guy you could trust with your life, honest, reliable, with great integrity, and always a smile and a great sense of humor.
He was a sharp dresser and always a ladies man, he made the rest of us look like slobs. We loved him, and will miss him.
Also at Mt Home AFB was:Tim Dabrowski, Mike Panek,Bob Nelson, Stan Peterson, Richard Armitage.Dean Acheson, Ralph Moore, Otis B. Williams, John Rapp, and good friend Dennis Baker.

I wanted to thank everyone for their warm wishes and condolences to our family. When I read your memories, a warm smile comes across my face. Jim Berg, my brothers and I have grown up hearing about the adventures you and my father had. I know he cherished the times you had together. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and member of the WA State Ferry System. I know he really enjoyed the people he worked with and the relationships he created with the WSFS over his 30 years of service. His family and I are holding up ok, and again, I thank everyone for their kind words.
