Dear John.
Thank you for your kind remarks. Jerry was a good husband, father and grandpa as well. After fifty-four years of marriage I miss him so much. It is nice to know that others remember him so kindly.

To the family of Captain Jerry Hayes. I served with Captain Hayes on the USS Quillback as a Chief petty officer and remember him as a real gentleman and a fine C.O. I'm sorry this comes so late but I only recently learned of his passing.

I have so many terrific memories of St. Cecilia's and wrapped up in all of them are Susan and Jerry Hayes. It seemed there was never anything I worked on or helped with that Jerry wasn't also involved in - working twice as hard. He faced life with such enthusiasm. I remember when he retired from General Dynamics and told me he was busier in retirement than he had ever been while working. I remember beautiful dinner parties at the Bill Point house. I actually remember his lawn! He was an excellent Catholic, a proud USNA grad, a terrific friend, and a great family man (he was so proud of all you kiddos). The world is a less good place without him in it.

Jerry and Susan have been my neighbors for the past five years and Jerry was always such a gentleman and a sweet and kind man. We all owe him great thanks for his service to our country; During his life, I know he was an experienced, skilled and productive man.

He used to help me with heavy items and taking out and putting in the leaf in my dining table.

My heart goes out to his family; all the wonderful memories of him will comfort them.
