Harriet L. Davis, passed away February 8, 2017 at home on Bainbridge Island, surrounded by family. She was 78 years of age.

She was born January 31, 1939 in Seattle to Lewis and Olive Langdon and was preceded in death by her brother Harold (Ted).

She is survived by Stephen, her husband of 56 years; sons Peter (Karen) Davis of North Wales, Pennsylvania, and Ted (Francey) of Tigard, Oregon, and daughter Stephanie Malone (George) of Sammamish, Washington; and grandchildren Kevin, Conner (Allegra), Megan, Cole, and Molly.

Harriet is a graduate of the Helen Bush School and Stanford University. She and Steve met as teenagers on Bainbridge and moved back to the island in 1964 after the birth of their first child. Together with Steve, Harriet had a profound impact on the Bainbridge community.

She was a founder of the Lenore Ostrander Guild of Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, named for her grandmother, and was on the founding board of Kids’ Discovery Museum. Harriet also served on the board of Bainbridge Arts and Crafts and was involved with Helpline House, One Call for All, Bainbridge Island Art Museum, IslandWood and the Bainbridge Community Foundation. She and Steve were recognized as Outstanding Bainbridge Philanthropists by Bainbridge Community Foundation in 2008.

Harriet was a member of Wing Point Golf Club, serving as ladies’ captain, and was an active volunteer for the Pacific Northwest Golf Association. She also cherished the separate travel study trips she and Steve took with each grandchild and was a passionate advocate of life-long learning.

The family would like to thank doctors Maureen Kovall and Kathleen Horan for their caring dedication.
