Helen Forsman, born on April 27, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland to Marian Winterbottom and Russell Pence, passed away on June 16, 1927 in Retsil, Washington.
She was raised in Baltimore by her mother, who worked at the famous Hippodrome Theater. She worked in a military airplane factory during WWII. She married USCG Boatswains Mate James W. Forsman of Suquamish on June 14, 1943 at the Baltimore Basilica. After the war, they made a home in Suquamish where they raised their five children and nephew Joe.
Helen was active in the Suquamish community and helped establish some of the Suquamish Tribeís early educational programs. She had a lengthy career at Kiana Lodge where she served as manager for many years serving many famous guests including King Hussein, Spiro Agnew and Jaclyn Smith. Helen loved to travel including trips to China, Australia and Europe.
She is survived by her sons Jim of San Francisco and Tony, John and Leonard of Suquamish, grandchildren Shawn Boushie, and Robert, Chelsea and Ann Forsman all of Kitsap County and great grandson Marion Leonard Ives. She was preceded in death by daughter Linda, son Richard, daughter Marion Forsman-Boushie, husband James and nephew Joe.
A memorial will be held at Kiana Lodge at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24th. A Rosary will be held at St. Peterís Mission on Friday, June 23rd at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
