passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Northwest Hospital in Seattle, Washington. He was born on December 12, 1931 and was 81 years of age.Arlie was a kind man of enormous integrity. He was also milk-through-the-nose funny. Arlie was born in Wenatchee. In the US Coast Guard he earned a 1st class radiotelephone license and served from 1949 to 1952. He then attended Dillon Teachers' College and graduated with a degree in elementary education. Arlie's teaching career spanned 38 years, ranging from a Hutterite community to over 30 years at Adams Elementary School in Seattle. Arlie held M Ed and MS degrees.He spent summers as a VISTA volunteer with migrant children, a tutor for blind children, and an actor in Seattle Children's Theatre. He was a member of Brass Pounders and the American Legion.Among Arlie's broad interests were archaeology, covered bridges, snow apples, and music by The Celtic Women singers. He studied handcrafted log cabin construction techniques and had instruction manuals translated from their original Norwegian sources. His values were reflected in his charitable contributions to the Seattle Public Library Foundation, the Seattle Humane Society, and the Arlie Albeck Elementary Education Endowment at the University of Montana Western in Dillon.Arlie was preceded in death by his parents, Daphne E. (Finney Anderson) and Clarence J. Albeck, and by his sister Clarine Y. Warder. He is survived by his nieces Mandy Allen, Lisa Warder, and Amy Woodworth, all residing in Colorado.Internment of ashes will be at the family plot in Wilson Creek, Washington.Please sign the Online Guestbook and share your memories.
