died March 24, 2012 in Silverdale, Washington at the age of 82. For the last nine years Carol lived at Emeritus Oaks of Silverdale, an Alzheimer's Facility. Graveside services will be held in Dayton, Washington.Mrs. Marshall was born on March 2, 1930 in Yakima, WA to Joseph and Betty Iles. The family moved to Dayton, Washington in 1940. Carol graduated from Dayton High School in 1947 and obtained a graduate degree from Deaconess School of Nursing in 1952. She married Donald Marshall in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho in 1952. They were married for 36 years and had one son, Joseph Marshall. Donald Marshall died in 1988.Carol and Don lived in many places, Spokane, Maine, Puerto Rico and others. In these various communities Carol always worked at the nursing profession she loved. During her years in Silverdale she was head nurse on the oncology ward at Harrison Medical Center. Carol enjoyed a wide variety of activities. She raised roses for Jackson/Perkins and she and Don enjoyed looking for antiques. She collected Beanie Babies and was very lucky at Bingo and at the Casinos in general. Her stained glass works were prized gifts to many family members. She also loved to travel, with trips to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and many winters in Arizona.Carolyn is survived by her son, Joseph of Silverdale, Jennifer Ann Marie Williams, granddaughter, Alyssa Jo Williams and Alexander Williams, great-grand children, all of Silverdale. Two sisters, Joanne Sheely of Anacortes and Nancy Hoffman of Dayton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Carol will be remembered by her family and friends as a fun loving and thoughtful person who loved her family. Please sign the online Guest Book for the family.
