Edward Evans Johnson

November 15, 1941 — February 15, 2019

Edward E. Johnson, Ed, 77, died on Feb. 15th, 2019. He was born in Chicago on November 15th, 1941. He and his younger brother, William Johnson were raised by his beloved mother, Ruth Otto, and step-father Paul Otto. After high school Ed went into the Army during the Vietnam conflict. After his time in the service, he then went to college on the GI Bill and obtained a degree in Industrial Design from University of Illinois Chicago. Ed then moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington where he had a very successful career in Advertising. He owned his own Promotional Sales Company for many years and was elected as the chairman of the Promotional Products Association for four years, where he and his wife traveled the world as a representative for the association. Ed is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tanya Johnson, his five children: Ericka Frink, Paula Burke, Carla Johnson, Grant Johnson, and Laura Yu; eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter and his brother Bill and family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a great passion for car restoration and could take what looked like a pile of metal and turn that into a showroom masterpiece and won many awards for his restored cars. A favorite was touring with vintage car groups. Ed was a devout community man and served as a member of Kiwanis throughout his life and was typically driving one of his beautiful old cars in the 4th of July parade on Bainbridge Island. He was also a skilled house builder and was always ready with his hammer and nails to help out a neighbor with a house project. For those of you who know him, you know that he lived life to the fullest and he didn't earn the name "Fast Eddie" for nothing. Please check Tanya Johnson's Facebook page for information regarding a gathering for Ed.
