82, of Silverdale, Washington, died on September 14, 2016.Howard served in the Navy from 1952-1956 as a first class petty officer stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and Adak, Alaska. He married his wife of 54 years, Helen, in 1956. After the Navy, he graduated from Washington State University with an accounting degree and became a certified public accountant with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co (currently KPMG). He then worked at Washington State University, becoming Assistant Vice President for Finance/Controller.In 1975 he moved to Seattle Pacific University as Vice President for Finance. After earning an MBA from the University of Puget Sound, he became an accounting professor in the School of Business at SPU. In 1992, on a sabbatical from SPU, he had the opportunity to spend a year in the United Arab Emirates as both an instructor and as Supervisor Finance and Administration for the Dubai Women's College. When he returned from the UAE, he taught another three years at SPU before officially retiring. However, he continued to work, spending three years as Vice President for Business Affairs at Warner Pacific College and then pursued his love of teaching as an instructor at Highline Community College for several years.Howard is survived by his four children, Allison Tran, Michelle Woolley, Matthew Mount, Christopher Mount, and seven grandchildren.Memorial contributions can be made to the Union Gospel Mission in Seattle, Washington.Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
