Jake Douglas Robinson

March 4, 1995 — September 5, 2020

On Saturday September 5th Jake Robinson lost his life in a tragic mountaineering accident near Kololo Peak in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. He was born and raised on Bainbridge Island. After graduating from BHS he attended the University of Washington where he received a degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. At the time of his death Jake was working in Seattle as an Electrical Engineer. He found peace and happiness in the mountains and was eager to share it with all. Those mountains brought him alive-he lived and breathed them. He was a beautiful boy and a wonderful man.

Jake loved the mountains almost as much as he loved his family. He was the youngest climber to complete the Bulger List and held a well deserved reputation as an incredible source of “beta”. He created detailed annotated route maps and descriptions for other climbers, enjoyed spending countless hours poring over maps, analyzing routes and communicating with the pioneers of the Cascades to better understand their history. He always had a peak to climb in mind. Jake was also a talented engineer, musician, photographer but perhaps more importantly, a loving, and kind person who would always lend a helping hand. He possessed a keen and curious intellect. He was so strong, had a relentless drive and was open to all he met.

In Jake’s memory we ask that you take the time to read about what an incredible soul this world has lost. Please see the thread about him on nwhikers.net or in the ‘Washington’s Alpine Climbing and Ski Mountaineering Group’ on facebook and search Jake Robinson and read what Selena wrote and the comments. We want the world to always remember him and hold his memory in their heart.

In closing, the support our family has received from people near and far is unbelievable. It reminds us that love does conquer all. We could not get through this without each and every one of you. Say a prayer to your liking for Jake’s partner Selena. She is one in a million and we are so blessed to have her in Jake’s and our lives.

Jake is survived by his parents Paul, Karin, and brother Charlie, paternal grandparents Peter and Elizabeth Robinson, maternal grandparents Sigrid and Douglas Knight, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and his partner Selena Eon.

Donations in honor of Jake can be made to Seattle Mountain Rescue or Washington Trails Association (WTA)

Arrangements for a celebration of his life will be made at a later date.

With Love,
Karin, Paul and Charlie

Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
