passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington. She was born on March 17, 1942 in Seattle, WA and was 73 years of age.She was a well-loved wife, mother, nana, aunt, sister and friend. Julie was a fun and adventurous child who developed her love of cooking by spending time in the kitchen with her grandmother. As a teenager she discovered her love of music playing the piano and singing like an angel. She was also active in Job's Daughters and was Honored Queen of Bethel #28 in Greenwood.Julie attended Lincoln High School in Seattle where she was student body secretary and a member of the select singing group the Nonettes. She graduated from High school in 1960 and then went on to attend Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri. While pursuing music at Stephens College she studied voice with Eileen Farrell and played the role of Amahl in "Amahl and the Night Visitors" with Marlene Dietrich as the mother. After college, Julie worked as a science demonstrator at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. This is where she met her husband Dick who was the maintenance mechanic for the science exhibits.Julie and Dick were pinned on their first date, engaged on their second and had 52 years of love and fun filled adventure as husband and wife. They raised three girls in an almost perfect neighborhood and had a very full life with numerous dogs, cats, fish and even a horse or two. Julie and Dick attended Edmonds Presbyterian Church for 35 years and Julie served as a youth leader, choir director, elder, deacon, and general hostess over the years. She was also very active in the masonic order including Eastern Star, Amaranth and Job's Daughters where she served as Grand Guardian of Washington State in 1985. Julie was also very active in the Koinonia community where she was a Lay Leader.In 2000 Dick and Julie decided to make the big leap across the pond when they fell in love with a beautiful log home on three acres in Seabeck, WA. When they moved to Seabeck, they became founding members of North Bay Community Lutheran Church in Allyn, WA.Julie was very creative and was especially admired for her beautiful Christmas decorations. She also loved flowers and always had gorgeous live arrangements in her home. Julie had a generous spirit and kind heart with a gift for hospitality; she loved hosting parties and serving wonderful meals. She made anyone who walked through the door feel welcome in her home. She also shared her raw sense of humor with everyone!Julie Nehr was one of a kind and she will be greatly missed. Julie is survived by her husband Dick, daughters; Tami Reuter (Mike) of Seabeck, WA, Kim Baldwin (Ernie) of Richland, WA and Jennifer Nehr of Seabeck, WA. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Wyatt and Taylor Reuter and Richie and Kylie Baldwin. Her parents, Arthur R Hill and Edna R Hill, preceded Julie in death.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on September 10, 2015 at 3:30 PM at North Bay Community Lutheran Church, 221 East Lakeland Drive in Allyn, Washington.
