passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, June 9, 2014 in Poulsbo, WA.Kathleen was born July 4, 1924 in Erie, PA and raised in Cleveland,OH, spending her childhood summers in Miami, FL. She graduated from Ursuline College in Cleveland, OH with a degree in English. While at college, she used her athletic ability to play basketball.In 1946, Kathleen married Frank McCormick of Baltimore, MD. They moved to Seattle, WA to be close to Frank's brother, the Very Rev. John P. McCormick. They raised their nine children in the cities of Seattle, Tacoma, Walla Walla and Yakima, WA, where she was involved in her children's lives and daily activities. She enjoyed watching her daughter, Anne, participate in Special Olympics.Her family will always remember her for her keen sense of humor and quick wit. After Frank's passing in 1981, she moved to Olympia, WA where she enjoyed being an active member of St. Michael Catholic Parish. Some of her many roles within the Parish included being a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and serving food at funeral receptions. She also thoroughly enjoyed serving food for the nonprofit, Bread and Roses. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Francis (Frank)Xavier McCormick and daughter Patty (died as an infant). She is survived by her nine children, Michael [Seattle, WA], John [San Ysidro, CA], Thomas Francis [Yakima, WA], Anne [Olympia, WA], Mary (Rob Hartje) [San Jose, CA], Marty (Laura), [Bainbridge Island, WA], Patty (Rob) Nowak [San Jose, CA], Ellen (Jeff) DeAngelis [Mountain View, CA], and Jeanne (Gary) Acker [Portland, OR]. She was also a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren including Erin Hartje, Kevin, Caitlin and Maureen McCormick, Andy, Scotty and David (DJ) Nowak, Brian, Morgan and Jamieson DeAngelis, and Shannon, Nicole and Amanda Acker. A rosary will be held Thursday, July 3 at 6:00 pm at St. Michael Catholic Parish in Olympia, WA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 4 at 11:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Parish. Burial services will be held in Yakima at Calvary Cemetery on Saturday, July 5 at 11:00am. Sign the online guestbook to hare condolences.
