She married Laurence M. Ferguson, Sr. on November 26, 1949 and moved to Lockport, N.Y. where they made their home and raised three children. While she was living in Lockport, with the assistance of the Buffalo architectural office of Duane Lyman and Associates, she designed a family home that has been recently placed on the New York Register of Historic Places and has pending status for National recognition through the efforts of its present owner for its likeness and adherence to the precepts of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie style but with Lurana's own personal touches. She was also a member of the Junior Service League of Lockport, Mother's Club, Bridge Club, and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Lockport, serving as a deacon and an elder. Additionally, she was on the Board of Directors of the Wyndham Lawn Home, serving as their director for one year. In the late 1970's, she and her husband sold the home in Lockport and bought a home on Gull Lake in Richland, Michigan near where she grew up and spent many happy summers there. During the winter months, they lived in Tucson, Arizona. In 1998, they sold their Michigan home and moved to Colorado Springs, CO. She had been living on Bainbridge Island, and briefly in Poulsbo, Washington since 2009. Lurana was preceded in death by a younger sister Martha who died in infancy, her oldest child, son Laurence M. Ferguson, Jr. in 1985, and her husband Laurence M. Ferguson, Sr. who died in 2007. She is survived by a son Read S. Ferguson (Robin) of Bainbridge Island, WA and a daughter Elizabeth Ferguson-Pfeil of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Ryan D. Pfeil of Klamath Falls, OR; Keri A. Ferguson-Smith of Bellevue, WA; Blake L. Pfeil of Paju, South Korea; Austin R. Ferguson of Bainbridge Island, WA; Megan E. Pfeil of Colorado Springs, CO; and Rory P. Ferguson of Bainbridge Island, WA. People will remember her for extending kindness to everyone she met and for her hospitality. She was a loving mother and grammie and a loyal friend with a mischievous sense of fun whom many people will miss.
