Sirio John Samora

age 84, has departed peacefully to the arms of our Lord at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, WA Tuesday, September 29th surrounded by his loving family. Sirio was born on January 29, 1925 in Saguache, Colorado to Manuel and Louise Samora. He was the oldest of eleven children.At age 17, Sirio joined the United States Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in the First Marine Division in the Peleliu and Okinawa campaigns of World War II. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal and awarded the Aisatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, the WW II Victory Medal, the China Service Medal, the USMC Rifle Marksman Badge and the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon.In 1947, Sirio returned home to Saguache Colorado and married Floriene Archulletta. Sirio acquired an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Machine Shop from Pueblo Junior College. In the following years they started their family of 10 children. In 1962 Sirio, by then an accomplished machinist, moved his family to Washington. He continued his work at GE, Hanford, Boeing, and retired from The Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station Keyport, WA at age 68 after 26 years of service.Sirio lived his life as an active and devout member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed family trips to Colorado, fishing with his sons and grandchildren, dirt bike rides with his children, family camping, playing the guitar and harmonica, long distance conversations with his brothers and sisters, working in his shop in the garage, building toys and doll houses with his grandchildren, and Floriene's cooking. Sirio was dedicated to his wife & family with continued active community contributions. He always provided support and guidance to those in need. Sirio is survived by his wife of 62 years, Floriene; his sons and daughters, Sid-Leo, Gary, Manuel, William, Karen, Emma, Yvonne, Patricia and Melanie; his brother Elvie; his sisters, Mable, Ruth, Ronnie and Lena; and all of their families.Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and husband: you are always loved and will truly be missed.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend The Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St. Stephens Catholic Church 13055 SE 192nd St. Renton, WA.
