Tim Nodsle passed away suddenly at home on the morning of May 26, 2020, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sharilyn Nodsle; daughter Olyvia Nodsle (Heather Taylor) of Suquamish, Washington; daughter Nicole Nodsle-Beck and grandchildren Hanna Nodsle (Kiley Stolz), Noah and Austen Beck, all of Bainbridge Island, and as well as siblings Connie Salsgiver (David) of Portsmouth VA, Jeff Nodsle (Becky) of Corona SD. Tim was preceded in death by his parents Leroy Nodsle and Donna Nodsle Salmonson, his stepfather Wallace Salmonson and his grandparents, Clyde and Emily Rugg. Tim had 3 Nieces, 2 Nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews, and 7 great-great nieces and nephews. He also had several grand chickens, 1 grand dog, and 1 great grand cat. Tim's faithful companion and trusted four-legged employee, Lili (2004-2020), always rode shotgun in Tim's truck. Tim placed her urn in the front passenger seat after she passed away earlier this spring.

Tim was born in Moorhead, Minnesota. His family moved to Larimore, North Dakota when he was 4, then onto Fargo North Dakota, where his father suffered a fatal subarachnoid hemorrhage that same year. His mother then moved the family to rural Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where they lived with Tim's maternal grandparents. Tim worked in the family owned Rugg’s Store pumping gas and selling candy and cigarettes from the age of 4 on. Tim benefitted from much practical instruction from his grandfather and was also largely self-taught. At age 10, Tim plumbed a house on his own. Tim attended the one-room schoolhouse across the road from the family store, then went on to junior high and high school in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. The family moved when his mother married Wallace Salmonson in 1969 and Tim graduated from Fergus Falls High School. He went on to receive an Associate of Arts degree from Fergus Falls Junior College. 

Tim and Sharilyn married on September 21, 1985.

Tim, Sharilyn, and Nicole moved to Bainbridge Island from Omaha, Nebraska in 1989. Here, Tim applied his many skills as a carpet cleaning business owner, real estate agent, general contractor and manager of the Sterling building for the Clarke family for over 30 years. Tim has built many beautiful homes, decks and bridges on Bainbridge Island, including the house he built for his family on the North end of the island, three commercial kitchens he constructed for Sharilyn's catering business, and participation in the construction of the KidsUp! playground at Battle Point Park.

Tim's family will miss the love that he displayed in so many humorous ways—his parodies of John Prine, John Fogerty, and John Denver and how he laughed at his own "papa" jokes that no one else in his family understood. They will miss the unappetizing odors that sent his grandkids running for cover whenever he cooked something interesting. They will remember the hours he spent constantly sharpening his tools and will continue to wonder how he still had any tools that needs sharpening. They will remember how Tim had a specific spoon and fork he used at every meal and how he would get mad if someone else in the family used it. They will miss seeing him enjoy sitting in his favorite chair with his evening glass of scotch where he yelled at the TV during political shows he watched nightly on MSNBC. They will miss the backyard family bonfires Tim started with a blow torch and stoked with a leaf blower.

The family would like to acknowledge and send their love and appreciation to Jacob and Victoria Hayashi. Jacob was much more than Tim’s employee for eight years; he was the son Tim never had. Tim and Jacob worked and laughed side by side each day and created a deep friendship. 

The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the Bainbridge Island Police and Fire Departments. 

We will celebrate Tim’s life with a bonfire and wiener roast on September 5th. Details to be announced.
