Venera Carmella Barles

It is with profound gratitude that we celebrate our time with Carmella Venera Madeline Di Bella Barles, a tiny, fierce and impeccably well-dressed woman known to all as our dearest friend Vinny.

On December 21st, 2023, she passed as quickly as she showed up to the plate of life and never stopped giving 110% in between. She lived her life everywhere and with everyone as much as anyone could. She was immersed in her community and undeniably committed to her friends and family.

Venera was born on April 30th, 1932 in Albany, New York where she grew into an incredible beauty, and quickly caught the heart of one Mr. Edward Barles. A marriage between this Catholic Italian girl and a Russian Jewish boy was anything but in fashion at the time, but the dynamic and intelligent couple wore their love with pride and style for the rest of their lives together.

A love that lasted well over half a century. Venera is preceded by her daughter Carisa and her son David and is survived by her husband Edward, daughter Gina, brother Nicholas and son-in-law Peter, as well as grandchildren, Alexia, Julian and Isabella and

great-grandson Talon.

She moved the hearts of people around her as easily as the wind moves the air. She was so much more than average. Venera was a comedian, a chef, a musician and an interior designer. She was a writer and published two books, including an autobiography that should be read and enjoyed by all. Her talents, her voice and her words leave an indelible mark on us all and she will be missed with each passing day.

Venera truly was the most special person one could ever know.

A Celebration of Life is to held Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center located at 370 Brien Dr SE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110, from 2:30pm - 4:30pm.

In honor of Venera's vibrant spirit, we're inviting everyone to don their favorite hats - whether it's funny, formal, or simply fabulous! Let's adorn ourselves with the headwear that best reflects the joy and uniqueness that Venera brought into our lives.
