the daughter of James Lael and Bertha (Rodgers) Simmons, was born in Moscow, Idaho on 15 August, 1925.Dee grew up in Seattle and graduated from Queen Anne High School. She entered the University of Washington in 1943 and in 1945, transferred to Albion State Normal School, in Idaho. There she met her husband, Charles Michael Hepworth, an Army Air Corps officer home on leave from the war.Chuck and Dee were married near Burley, Idaho on 12 April 1946. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968. They eventually settled in Spokane in 1954, where they lived until 2005.Dee earned a master's degree in English and pursued education much of her life. Dee also devoted a lot of her time to genealogy, and taught Family History at Eastern Washington University. Dee was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints .In 2006, Dee was preceeded in death by Chuck, her husband of 60 years. She is survived by a daughter, Tyann Williamson of Colbert; two sons, C. Michael Hepworth, II , of Kennewick and W. Bradford Hepworth, of Bainbridge Island; a sister, Ty Nieto of Walnut Creek, California; three brothers, William H. Simmons, of Utah, James L. Simmons, II, of Woodinville, and John R. Simmons, of Marysville; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 22nd, at 10:30 at the LDS church at 2112 W. Francis in Spokane.
