Adele Frances Peterson

passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale, Washington. She was born on May 26, 1929 in Alhambra, California and was 87 years of age.Throughout her life, Adele worked in health care as a nurse. She was a strong, stable, loving, caring, witty and was sometimes a tad ornery lady. She was competitive, a worthy opponent and loved cards (Pinochle) and games (Backgammon, Acey-Ducey). She loved the ocean and to travel with her husband. When Adele was in the hospital prior to her death, all she wanted was to be 'home for the holidays'. She was transferred to Northwoods Lodge for rehabilitation assistance, her goal was still to be 'home for the holidays'. She gave it all of her energy but passed away on Dec 23, 2016. In truth, she did make it home for Christmas!She is survived by her children; Kathy Smith of Welton, Arizona, John Peterson of Everett, Washington, Peter Peterson (Susan) of Wenatchee, WA, Barb Moots (John) of Craig, Alaska, Jim Peterson of Bainbridge Island, WA, Chris Springer of Tracyton, WA, Teresa Peterson of Kitsap County, Patty Peterson of Bremerton, WA and Shel Peterson of Peterson of Denver, Colorado. There are fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Adele was preceded in death by her husband Francis S. Peterson, parents Henry and Cecile McLaughlin and her son in-law Gary E. Smith.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the recitation of the rosary on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:30 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow in Conger Hall. Private interment will take place at Kane Cemetery on Bainbridge Island, WA. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or St Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
