Anita Delores Bousu

July 5, 1932 — January 4, 2022

On January 4, 2022, Anita Bousu met her beloved savior, Jesus, face to face.

Anita came into the world on July 5, 1932, number thirteen of fourteen children. She told many stories about growing up in a large family; the good, the bad, and the ugly.

After high school graduation, Anita made her way from her beloved Copper Country in Upper Michigan to the big city of Detroit where her older siblings had moved and were raising their families. She raised her two children, Michelle and Doug, as a single mom. It was important to her to raise her children away from the big city, so she made plans to relocate back to the Copper Country, city kids in tow.

Her initial dream of being a nurse was redirected into a second career as a home-based caregiver. She cared for elderly folks who just needed that extra bit of help to be able to remain in their own homes.

Once her daughter was accepted to college, she moved back downstate in Michigan, to Midland, so her daughter could come
home from college more often. She went back to work in corporate America for a previous employer and retired at the age of 70.

In retirement, she volunteered with her local hospital in Midland, and also sat with people nearing death in hospice. She continued to volunteer when she relocated to Bainbridge Island, Washington to live near her son, Doug. She also loved playing pinochle at the local senior center.

When she moved, she became a die-hard Seahawks fan. She even dyed her hair blue and green one year when they went to the Super Bowl.

Her many nieces and nephews and friends remember her for her faith in Jesus and love, as well as her sense of humor.

During her last few months, in assisted living, the staff grew to love her for the same reasons. She left her mark, for sure.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Elma (Ma and Pa), along with her twelve older siblings (Norman, Ellen, Alice,
Raymond, Paul (Monty), Ruth, Roy, Calvin, Ralph, Elma, Dorothy, and Kenneth. She was also predeceased by her step-granddaughter, Hanah Bobrow.

She is survived by her children, daughter Michelle Struczewski (Mark), and son, Doug. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Rebekah Wilson (Brandon), Hannah Struczewski, and Connor Bobrow as well as her youngest brother, David. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including greats and great-greats.
