passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at her home on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She was 83 years of age.Anne was born in Shanghai to Yale (Nee Arnold) and Anker B. Henningsen. Her formative years were spent in the Far East, Oregon and California, where she graduated from Katherine Branson School. At the age of twenty-three she married her ‘beloved' Sandy (Charles Alexander Schlee), a British Tea Trader. Their courtship, which began at a Hong Kong Halloween party, was to encompass much of the globe.Anne was married in California, lived as a newly wed in Taiwan and raised three daughters in Hong Kong and then in England. The last twenty-five years of Anne and Sandy's sixty years of marriage was spent on Bainbridge Island. It was during this time that her granddaughter, Charlotte, was born and there were many family visits, to and fro, across ‘The Pond'.Throughout her life Anne painted. Training at the International School of Art in Hong Kong, where she studied traditional oriental brushwork and painting techniques. Further training was to come through The Famous Artists School, USA.Primarily a water-colourist, Anne has exhibited in Hong Kong, England and America. She was a long time member, and past president, of the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers in the U.K. and The Women Painters of Washington, U.S.A. Signing her work Anschlee, she has had paintings hung in a number of juried and international exhibitions in the Far East, U.S.A. and the U.K. Examples of her work are to be found in both public and private collections throughout the world.As she was not one for formal ceremonies, Anne's closest family released roses with her ashes into the Puget Sound. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
