Anne Vandervelde Stern

Anne grew up on Bainbridge Island, attending Wilkes, Odyssey Multiage Program, West Sound Academy and Eagle Harbor High school. She was devoted to her friends and family, her work, exploring the world, and her beloved pets. Anne passed away June 1, 2018, at the age of 25, in an accident while traveling abroad.

Anne's fearlessness and infectious sense of fun and humor touched people of all ages. She cultivated her creativity through many mediums, however her deep love of music was her greatest gift. Anne sang and played guitar in several bands, performed in local musicals, busked, and shared her harmonies with anyone who wished to sing with her.

Despite the tragedy of our loss of many years with her laughter and joy, it is, above all, the kindness and love that Anne gave, that will be carried forward in the songs and hearts of those who knew her.

Anne is survived by her siblings, Molly and Nathan Stern and her parents Cay Vandervelde and Ken Stern. A private service was held at Seabold Cemetery on Bainbridge Island. Donations in Anne's memory may be made to Kitsap Humane Society or PAWS of Bainbridge Island.
