Barbara Ann (Bugden) O'Connor

passed away Saturday, June 22 at home after a long, brave fight with cancer.A phenomenal human spirit, treasured friend to countless, hilarious, intelligent, caring, and beautiful, at peace now with God, forever on our minds and in our hearts. Cherished mother of six children and 14 grandchildren who loved her dearly, Barbara will be profoundly missed. Beloved mother of Nancy, Brian, and Tim O'Connor, Sally Hughes, Susan McAuliff, and Carrie Strachan, and mother-in-law of Joel Hughes, Bob McAuliff, Pattie O'Connor, and Marc Strachan. Former loving wife of Jim (Okie) O'Connor (deceased) and beloved sister of Ruth Foden and Marjorie Evangelista (deceased), sister-in-law of Carl Evangelista, Bob Foden (deceased), Connie Oliver, and Bill O'Connor (deceased). Treasured grandmother of Sean O'Connor, Kailey, Mathew, Timothy, and Hannah Strachan, Declan and Eamon Powers, Peter, Andrew, and Caroline Hughes, Brian and Christopher McAuliff, and Grady and Keegan O'Connor. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Originally from Medford, Ma, Barbara graduated from Medford HS and the Chandler School in Boston. Barbara worked for the Record American newspaper, for a time owned and ran the Culling Board restaurant in Chatham Ma, and worked at the Chatham Bars Inn for many years.In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Barbara especially loved the beach, reading, hosting dinner parties, and was an avid thrift shopper.A Celebration of her Life will be held on Cape Cod on July 26, 2013.
