was born April 17, 1940 in the Port Gamble Hospital. She died November 26th at Martha & Mary Home where she resided the last eight years. She was born to John G. & Virginia L. Johnson.She is survived by her Sister Sally (Glenn)Nelson, who has been her caregiver for the last 15 years. A Son, Michael Dean, two Stepdaughters, Kristin (Doug)Reed and Gayle(Tim)Sissel, and grandchildren Rachael Dean, Caleb Kenney, Allen Kenney, and Lydia Kenney.Barbara grew up in the small community of Eglon. She attended the one room school house and graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1958. She received her teaching degree from Western Washington College and taught in Lynnwood, Federal Way, and North Kitsap School Districts. She also spent a year teaching in Okinawa. Barbara was active in Camp Fire as a young girl. She also hiked across the Olympic mountains with her Uncle Byron. Barbara was an active member in her church both in Federal Way and at Suquamish United Church of Christ. She was known for her sense of humor and great Spirit. Memorial gifts may be given to Martha & Mary Home, or the Suquamish Community Congregational Church.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 1 PM at Martha and Mary Chapel in Poulsbo, Washington. Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
