age 63, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family following a four month battle with cancer. She was born January 6, 1947, in Renton, Washington to John and Helen Bialek. She graduated from Issaquah High School and then went to Green River Community College where she met her future husband, Tim. She went onto Central Washington College graduating in 1969 with a teaching degree. JoAnne and Tim were married in 1968 celebrating 42 years of Marriage this June. After graduation she joined her husband in Heidelberg, Germany, where he was stationed in the US Army. JoAnne enjoyed her life in Europe and was able to travel to places she had only dreamed about in school. JoAnne and Tim moved back to Poulsbo in 1977 and she got a job at the elementary school as an aid and this rekindled her passion in teaching children in special education. She spent the following 23 years teaching at the Poulsbo Middle School. JoAnne dedicated her life to her family, school and the family church, First Lutheran of Poulsbo. She was instrumental in numerous social outreach programs, Thrivent, quilts for needy children, missions in Romania and community meals. Since 2000, she owned and operated an antique and collectibles shop in Poulsbo. In addition to her husband Tim, she is survived by her three sons, all born in Heidelberg: Charles T. Bodner (Manuela) of Enterprise, Alabama; Karl R. Bodner (Sandy) of Lacey, Washington and Christopher L. Bodner of Poulsbo; a granddaughter, Ashley Bodner of Lacey Washington. Everyone will miss her infectious smile and happy laugh, but her family is uplifted with the knowledge she is with her Lord and all will be joined together in the future. JoAnne was buried beside Tim's parents in Washington Memorial Park, Seattle, Washington, on October 15, 2010. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2 pm at The First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. We invite all who knew her to come and celebrate her life with us.
