of Belmont California passed away peacefully in Silverdale Washington on March 16, 2012.She was born in Rockford Illinois on April 9, 1920 to US Army Colonel Franklin and Margaret Louise Williams. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, Honolulu Hawaii in 1937 and from the University of Oregon (Eugene) May 1942 earning a Bachelors Degree in English. She was a proud lifelong member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. During WWII, she worked for the War Department in Washington DC as a "coder". Carmen was married 52 years to Robert Conrad Lofte. They lived in Johansberg Africa, Israel and London plus traveled and cruised to many countries worldwide. They also vacationed to many states while visiting family and friends. Robert predeceased her in 2002. Carmen enjoyed reading, traveling, playing bridge, and watching Jeopardy. She was always interested in learning and curious about all things.Carmen is survived by four children Robin Rene (Eric), Thomas (Hien), Zoe (Gene) and Margaret (Bill) plus two grandsons, Stanley and Adam (Bella). She enjoyed many special friendships in Belmont California after 45 years as a resident and will be greatly missed by her bridge partners.Private Services are by Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Carmen will be laid to rest at the Luthern Church Cemetary in Eau Claire Wisconsin next to Robert Conrad Lofte.
