of Bainbridge Island Washington, passed away on February 2nd 2017 at 6:25 p.m. at the age of 88 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma Washington. She was preceded in death by Ramon Lubovich, her husband of 59 years.Caroline was born October 2nd 1928 in Chicago Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Strobl and Rose Stumvoll. After graduating from Alvernia High School she met her true love, Ramon Lubovich, and married in 1947. Soon afterwards, they moved west and chose to settle in the Seattle area, eventually moving to Bainbridge Island.Carol was the consummate mother and homemaker providing an extraordinary home for raising 5 very active children. After her children grew up and left home, she continued to be the families gathering point for all generations of her family. Everyone looked forward to every event or holiday that brought the family together, including her weekend football gatherings and the world famous Lubofest.She unequivocally dedicated many years of her life caring for her mother, her mother-in-law and later her husband who fell ill to a prolonged illness. Her love and honor for her family was a strong presence in her life.Throughout her life Carol was never one to sit still. She was always willing to try most anything. She loved to camp, fish, garden, sew, knit, and was an excellent cook. She also learned how to do small business bookkeeping. She remained active and self-reliant until her last days.Carol was a woman with a profound perception of the true meaning of family. She was the perfect definition of love, compassion, humility, devotion, loyalty, faith, good humor, and kindness. She was defined by these, and many other virtues rolled into one big heart. She was a great listener and adviser to everyone and there was never an adversity that she could not overcome. She also maintained an unwavering faith in God through the Catholic Church. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.Survivors include her five children, Roger (Cathy) Lubovich, Dean (Virginia) Lubovich, Mark (Teresa) Lubovich, Ron (Linda) Lubovich, and Karen (Brian) Fischer. She also left behind 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 11th 2017 at Saint Cecilia's Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home. Please sign the online guest book for the family.
