Catherine R. Roe

passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Washington. She was born on December 04, 1921 in Calgary, Canada and was 89 years of age.She moved to Seattle in 1923 and graduated from Broadway High School in 1940. Catherine was granted US citizenship in 1939 and worked for the Army Corp of Engineers from 1940-1949 at Fort Lawton in Seattle. She married Thomas (Bud) Roe in Seattle in 1949. They moved to Burien, WA where they lived for 30 years. They were one of the founding families of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Burien.Catherine (Katy) was a very active women's guild member and volunteer in the parish until she and Thomas (Bud) moved to Kingston, WA in the early 1980's. Catherine moved to Bainbridge Island in 1995 after her husband's death.She was a passionate reader of all types of literature. Catherine was a very devoted wife and mother who remained actively involved in the lives of her family right up to her passing.She is survived by her children; Michael Roe (Tanya) of Bainbridge Island and Kevin Roe (Jessica) of Des Moines, WA. She also leaves behind her grandson Garrett Roe of Bainbridge Island and her step-grandchildren Judy Jean, Hunter and Johnna. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas (Bud) Roe.
