On Friday, December 13, 2024, Chuck (Bunny) Earl Callaham, Jr, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away of natural causes at the age of 91. Chuck was born on July 24, 1933, in Olympia, WA to Charles (Squirrel) and Signie Callaham. They moved to Bainbridge Island, WA when he was 3 where he remained an Island resident for his remaining 88 years.
He was a Bainbridge High Graduate of the class of 1951 and went to Olympic College from 1951 - 1953. He was in the· Army from 1953 - 1956, stationed in Alaska where he also served on the Cold Bay Fire Department. He worked at Todd Shipyard from 1959 - 1991.
He played some baseball in College, but he had more fun playing softball for years. He volunteered with the Bainbridge Island Fire Department for a period spanning 75 years. Chuck was really known for the Christmas display on Highway 305 across from Seabold Church, where he; and his wife would start setting up the display after Halloween. The display was turned on on Thanksgiving and ran through the first part of January.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Earl (Squirrel) and Signie Callaham and his son, Dale Callaham. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Callaham of 64 years, daughter Heidi Callaham, his brother,..Dick Callaham, and two granddaughters. Chuck's life will be celebrated on .. June 21, 2025, at the Bucklin Hill Fire Station at 1:00 PM.
