passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Keiro Nursing Home in Seattle, Washington. She was 83 years of age and born on May 28, 1924 in Tacoma, Washington to Fukukuma Matsuno and Tamiko Konomi.She grew up in Glendale, California and graduated from Hoover High School in 1942. Chizuko was interned in Manzanar, CA where she met her future husband Tairoku Nishimori. They married in 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Bainbridge Island, WA in 1946 and the family operated a strawberry farm. She was a member of the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church on Bainbridge Island. She was also a member of the Nisei Orthopedic Guild and had worked for the Boeing Company for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crafts, being a part of the Bainbridge Island Senior Center activities and trips with her family. She was an avid Mariner baseball fan.Chizuko is survived by her children; Janice Nishimori, Richard Nishimori and Jean (James) Divine. She also leaves behind her sisters; Hideko Bannai and Alice (Fred) Yamashiro. There are also many loving brothers in law and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002 and by her sister Mary.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday, February 22, 2008 from 5-7 PM at Cook Family Funeral Home, 163 Wyatt Way NE on Bainbridge Island, WA [Map]. Interment at Port Blakely Cemetery on Bainbridge Island. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bainbridge Island WWII Nikkei Memorial or to a charity of choice.
