In Loving Memory of Christine Elizabeth Tibbitts. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher, and cherished friend. Christine was a warrior to the very end despite the progression of a chronic illness that came with burdensome health challenges. She died peacefully at her home with loved ones by her side.
Christine will no doubt be remembered for her generosity, sense of humor, ability to accept others without judgment, and her selfless nature who dedicated her life to nurturing those around her, finding particular fulfillment working with children and adults with special needs. After staying home for several years to raise her children, she eventually went back to school to obtain her Masters degree and teaching credentials. This allowed her to secure a job in the San Bernardino Unified School District working with students of varying ages and special needs. She would often come home and talk about her students with endearing fondness. Christine was a great example of kindness and compassion, faithfulness and strength.
Born on April 10, 1954, Christine grew up in Long Beach, California, and ultimately moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington where she found solace tucked into the beauty of the forest and peace among the water of the Puget Sound. Her latest hobbies included cultivating a garden and learning the art of soap making, but above all, she loved doting on and spoiling her grandchildren.
Christine approached life’s challenges with grace and resilience, her example inspiring and teaching those around her the importance of kindness, perseverance, and love. She had a talent for not taking life too seriously and always had an unparalleled sense of humor. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those she touched.
She is survived by her two sisters, DeAnn Christensen and Judy (Chuck) Ogden, her children, Mikelle (William) Miles Mooney, Christopher (Carolina) Miles, Cori (Gregory) Shaw, Traci (Andrew) Whyte, Kylie (Brent) Wright, and her step-children, Bryan (Crystal Guthrie) Miles and Teri Miles Wehrli, and twenty grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Lucille Tibbitts, and her son, Jason Miles. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in the memories of her love and the indelible mark she left on our lives.
A celebration of Christine’s life will be held on December 6, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hemet, California.
