"Rudy", passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.He was born on November 11, 1931 in Kawit Cavite, Philippines. Rudy retired from the US Navy as a CPO/E7 cook, and later worked as a welder at various locations around the sound and cashier at Bainbridge Disposal.He will always be remembered as a fun loving oriented person with a sense of humor, and a hard worker who enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, keeping up on his yard and cooking. During his 22 years of service in the U.S. Navy, he served on the U.S.S. Hornet and Submarine Squadron 5, where he was stationed in San Diego, CA, Oahu, HI and eventually Whidbey Island, WA. He enjoyed playing basketball, starting in high school and then the Philippine Air Force team. He was known to be on time to all of his appointments and hated to be late.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Suzanne Corpuz Diaz of Bainbridge Island, children: Natie Nicholson (James) of Suquamish, WA, Conrado Diaz (Brenda) of Bainbridge Island, WA, Raymond Diaz (Nancy) of Gig Harbor, WA, Wilfred Diaz (Ann Roque) of Poulsbo, WA, and Leilani Diaz Rosete (Jason) of Renton, WA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: David Tejano, Raelani Diaz, Chantelle Diaz, Jessica Diaz, Kaylee Hazlett, Teriel Diaz, Cheyenne Diaz, Rudy Diaz, Willy Diaz, Jaden Rosete, Gabriella Diaz, Kai Rosete, and Dominic Diaz, and his great-grandchildren: Ashlyn Tejano, Diego, Andrew and Emiliano Baca and Kekoa Halican, sister Visitacion Diaz Manglapus, and brothers Wilfredo and Othelio Diaz of Philippines.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Miller WoodLawn Memorial Park in Bremerton, WA. A reception will follow at the church hall.
