David G. Mackenzie, a cherished figure whose warmth and generosity touched many lives, passed on September 5, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington Born on May 16, 1942, in  Oakland, California, David's journey began, one that would be marked by achievements, and an unyielding commitment to his family and community.

David attended the University of Kansas, where he attained his B.S. in Business in 1964, David furthered his education with an MBA from the University of San Francisco in 1974 and completed the esteemed Pacific Coast Banking School in 1976. His professional life was dedicated to banking, culminating in a distinguished career as Executive Vice President and Chief Fiduciary Officer at Bank of America. After serving 32 years, he retired in 1999, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and expertise.

David also answered the call of duty, serving honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1966, stationed aboard the USS Finch (DER 328). His commitment to service earned him the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. One of his proudest moments, etched in time, was when he heroically saved a sailor's life in the tumultuous waters of the South China Sea, an act for which he received a citation from US Navy Commander Escort Squadron Seven.

David’s personality shone bright; he was a person who "never met a stranger." His ability to connect with those around him made him a beloved figure among friends and family alike. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at the University of Kansas, where the bonds of friendship were forged during those formative years.

He leaves behind his loving sister, Judith M. Hunter, and his dear brothers, James D. Mackenzie and Robert B. Mackenzie, as well as his brother-in-law Dennis Vetica.  David's life was enriched by the love and companionship of his beloved wife, Wanda J. Mackenzie, who predeceased him in 2022.

As we reflect on David's life, we celebrate not only his accomplishments and readiness to serve others but also the spirit of kindness he offered freely throughout his journey.
