Denny Young passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 8, 2022.
Born January 18, 1940, in Everett, Washington, Denny would fondly recount stories of playing baseball on the streets, walking to school (uphill both ways), and working in the local plywood mill. After graduating from Everett High School, he attended the University of Washington, joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and met the love of his life Sandy who he married in 1966. Inspired by public service by JFK, Denny went to work for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and served nobly for 36 years.
Denny moved the family to Bainbridge Island in 1978, served as a Rotarian for 14 years, coached youth soccer, and attended nearly every event in which his son and granddaughters participated. Denny leaves his wife of 56 years, Sandy, his son David, and granddaughters Chloe, Callie, and Carmen, along with many dear friends and extended family whom he loved.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island at 3 pm on August 26th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests support for the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island.
