Dorothy Blanche Almond Noll

passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Manor Care Center in Tacoma, Washington. She was born on July 7, 1922 in Wichita, Kansas and was 88 years of age.During WWII, she worked at Cessna Aircraft where she volunteered to demonstrate whether women could perform aircraft manufacturing jobs becoming one of the first women machinists from tool and die to stamping. Here she also was a bookkeeper and supported our troops by singing on the radio. She was a member of the Eastern Star, North Kitsap PTA, and the American Red Cross and was a past board member of Martha and Mary Nursing Home. Dorothy cheerfully initiated and conducted annual reunions of the orphans of Martha and Mary. She made people happy. Her infectious smile and desire to help all made her a wonderful Mom and friend to all. She brought caring love to her husband John's medical practice that served Poulsbo for over 25 years. She made people feel wanted. At her assisted living home in Tacoma, she and her close friend George created the "happy group" welcoming all. Most of all, Dorothy loved the Lord with all her heart and soul through her service to others and her beautiful voice filling the air with His praise. She is survived by her son John Edward Almond of Tacoma, WA, daughter Cheryl Marie Almond of Sun Lakes, AZ and son James Winston Almond of Poulsbo, WA. There are seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands John Clayton Almond and Axel Noll, also her daughter Dana Sue Almond. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo, Washington. A reception will follow at the church hall. Interment will take place at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice or to Martha and Mary Nursing Home or the First Lutheran Church, both of Poulsbo, WA.
