Dorothy May Bland

Dorothy May Bland of Bainbridge Island passed away Monday August 13, 2018 at Martha and Mary Nursing and Rehabilitation in Poulsbo. Born in Leavenworth, Kansas on April 30, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Orie A. and Pauline Waller Mitchell and was 96 years of age.

Dorothy attended school locally in Kansas and after her graduation she joined the United States Marine Corp where she would earn the rank of Sergeant during her service to our country. Dorothy would later meet and marry the love of her life Walter with whom she would spend her life.

During her marriage, she and Walter owned and operated a Gas Station with Dorothy handling all of the clerical responsibilities, but she was best remembered for her skills as a mom and homemaker.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Marilyn Brenneman and husband Phil and her son Mitch Bland. Services and interment will be held in Georgia at a time convenient for the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
