passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Montclair Park in Poulsbo, Washington surrounded by family. She was born September 18, 1913 in Mcville, North Dakota. Edna was the daughter of Rasmus and Marie Knutson. She was a graduate of Williston High School in North Dakota. Edna married Arthur Smaaladen on August 19, 1934 in Shelby, Montana. They worked their way to Poulsbo where they have lived and raised their four children. She was a cook at Crazy Eric's in Poulsbo and a homemaker. Edna was an active member of the Sons of Norway Lodge 44, participating in the drill team in the early years and First Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by Arthur, her husband of 75 years, sons, Aldeen (Leota), Larry (Kathy) of Poulsbo, Landis (Pat) of Bellevue and daughter Glenna (Ernie) Johnson of Poulsbo. There are eight grandchildren, Shellie, Stacey, Scott, Shellsea, Tamara, Teresa, Jim (Darshan), Karin (David), Lori (Scott) and nine great-grandchildren; Nathan, Devin, Shane, Katelyn, Sean, Mason, Bryant, Andrea and Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Ernest, Henry, Roy and Walter Knutson and Esther Cianfrani and Rhoda Knutsen. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo, Washington. Interment will be private at the church cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to The First Lutheran Church, Martha and Mary Health Care Services or a charity of choice.
