Edward William Bigler, M.D., 84, A longtime resident of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Bend, Oregon, passed away from cardiac arrest on Bainbridge Island, August 9, 2019 with his wife Sandra by his side.
He was born October 7, 1934 to Hayward Landon & Mary Eloise Bigler in Cortez Colorado. As a 1952 Graduate of St. John's Military School in Salina, Kansas he went on to further his education as a Pre-Med Student at The University of Colorado at Boulder. He then attended The University of Colorado at Denver for Medical School; where he was an exchange student in Stockholm, Sweden, accomplished his Internship at Philadelphia General Hospital and Externship at Stanford University; graduating in 1959. He then spent two years in rhe United States Air Force as a Captain and Physcian, stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho. He brought his experience to Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington where he was an Emergency Physcian who took pleasure in helping train the first Medic One unit. He worked in Private Family Practice in Bellevue Wa for six years and in Bend Oregon for ten years before retiring in 2015; But will be mostly remembered for his 32 years of service as an ER Doc at Valley (General Hospital) Medical Center in Renton, Wa.
He is proceeded in death by: His parents Eloise and "Big" Bigler; sister, Ann Bullwinkel; children, Kelly Bigler, Derek Bigler, M.D., Jason Bigler and Blake Bigler. And Grandchilden, Taylor Bigler and Quinton Bigler.
He is surrvived by his brother Roger A Bigler, of Bend Oregon, his loving wife, Sandra Bigler; children, Chris Bigler, Kjel Bigler and Kari (Danny) Dolan as well as Grandchilden, Isabella and Noah Moscarillo , nieces Lisa Bowerman, Allison, Black, Lynn Mercein, Natalie Bigler and nephews James and Aiden Bigler, Paula Bullwinkel, Ethan Singer, Clay and Denise Bullwinkel.
He is forever remembered for his loving spirit, dedication and devotion to helping others, his booming voice, as a, fire alarm setting smokey tortilla chef, his hillarius word play, constantly running out of gas, being the ultimate 12th Man fan, and his passion for family, Medicine and the sea.
