Elinor Marie Ringland

Elinor Marie (Jacobson) Ringland at the age of 100 years, peacefully passed away in her home on Bainbridge Island October 27th.

She was born in Jewell Iowa on August 29 1923, and attended Morningside College where she met the love of her life Joe. They were married right before he went off to serve as a pilot in WWII. They were married for 64 years until his death in 2008.

In 1959 Joe and Elinor loaded four young children and a beagle into a converted school bus called the Ringland Ramble Bus and moved from Iowa to Washington State. Then in 1967 the family moved to Bainbridge Island.

When her children were younger Elinor worked as a writer for Children's Bible Curriculum. Then later in life she returned to work as a nurse and was the Director of Nursing Services at Messenger House where she worked for 25 years.

Elinor has a Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration and a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

Elinor had many volunteer jobs over the years, including Habitat for Humanity, Bainbridge Island Senior Center and docent at the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum.

Elinor enjoyed having a wonderful 100th birthday party with close friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Beatrice Jacobson and brothers Theodore, George and Robert.

Elinor is survived by children; Joe (Rinie) of Brush Prairie, WA, Margaret Adams (Dan) of Seabeck, WA, Robert of Portland OR, Jill Ashby (Briant) of Port Orchard, WA. Grandchildren; Zach, Tarn, Kate, Severn, Robyn and Ellie. Great-grandchildren; Thane, Alice. Archer, Kai, Eena. Sarah and Emma.

Thank you to the caregivers from Home Helpers of Poulsbo and CHI Franciscan Hospice for your support and assistance in allowing Elinor to remain in her own home per her wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the charity of your choice.

Family plans for a celebration of life are pending as are cremation arrangements with Cook Family Funeral Home.
