our beloved mother and Oma passed away April 30th at home surrounded by her family. She died from complications of emphysema. Charlie was born August 15, 1927 in Miami Beach, Florida in the time when watermelons grew wild there and views of the ocean were unobstructed. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and in 1950 she married George Lyall who worked for Pan American Airlines. They had three daughters and spent the next 17 years in Latin America and the Caribbean. She was fluent in three languages and helped many newcomers adjust and learn how to live in Latin America during the 50's and 60's.In 1996, Charlie relocated to Bainbridge Island to join her daughters and their families. She loved her life on Bainbridge with her girls, her friends and was always happy when her faraway friends came to visit her here. One of her favorite pastimes was playing bridge with her pals at the Senior Center. She was very sad when she was no longer well enough to play with the Tuesday group.Charlie is survived by her daughters, Laurie A. Lyall, Carrie McCann, Kathy Lyall-Cooper, her granddaughter, Erica Cooper, her sons' in law, Paul Cooper and Heikki Seppa, all of Bainbridge Island.Services will be private.
