EVELYN J. (LYNNE) HOLLISTER
MAY 19, 1948 - AUGUST 23, 2018

Lynne Hollister of Bainbridge Island passed away at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton after a long illness, with her husband at her side. She was 70 years old.

Evelyn June Coffin was born May 19, 1948 in Montgomery, Maryland, to James and Eleanor Coffin. She was raised in Yucaipa and Redlands, California, eventually graduating from Loma Linda University's School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Loma Linda Hospital for ten years before deciding to turn her innate creativity and artistic abilities into new careers as an interior designer, women's clothing designer/manufacturer and fiber artist.

She married her husband Jeff in 1993. They moved to Bainbridge Island in 1998 where Lynne continued her artistic pursuits, exhibiting and selling her creations at the Bainbridge Farmers' Market, the Studio Tour and Christmas in the Country for several years. She also briefly returned to nursing, working as a charge nurse at Messenger House on Bainbridge.

Lynne possessed a generous spirit and made friends with ease. Before her health declined, she was famous in her extended family for her elaborately decorated Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts. She loved to travel both in the Pacific Northwest and internationally; over the years, she and Jeff visited multiple destinations in the British Isles, northern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. For their 20th anniversary in 2013, they took an extended road trip through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents and her only son, Eric Thompson. She leaves behind her husband Jeff, brother Jim Coffin (Sally) of Orcas Island, nieces Sara Suseyi (Ibrahim) of Bainbridge Island and Samantha Acevedo of Poulsbo, and numerous friends made over the years in California and on Bainbridge Island.

Remembrances on Lynne's behalf can be made to the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Bainbridge and North Kitsap.

A celebration of Lynne's life will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
