Gary William Hendrickson

November 23, 1936 — September 20, 2022

Gary grew up in Arlington, Washington and graduated from Arlington High School in 1955. He earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Washington in 1959 and was a Phi Sigma Kappa. He also graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School in 1973. Gary was a Chief Financial Officer at the Small Business Administration and spent 32 years in government service, including 4 years as a Revenue Officer with the IRS in his early years. He also served 8 years in the Naval Reserve with 1-year active duty in Vietnam.


Gary was a life member of the NRA, honorary life member of the Bainbridge Island Fly Fishing Club, a Hunter Safety Instructor, a Director of the Ruffed Grouse Society in Wisconsin, a member of Bainbridge Island Kiwanis, and a 3 rd degree Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included fly fishing, trap shooting (many trophies), travel, golf, tennis, hunting upland birds and trophy antelope.


Gary was predeceased by his father Selmer (Bill) Hendrickson, mother Aileen Hendrickson, and brother Robert. He is survived by his wife Kathy Hendrickson of Bainbridge Island, children Christine Hoebermann of Tucson, AZ; Wendy Hendrickson (Jack) of Eureka, CA; Greg Hendrickson (Julie) of Oshkosh, WI; and Jean Toliver (Ben) of Spokane Valley, WA. Also 2 step-children David Mullins (Mary) of Madison, WI and Brian Hendrickson also of Madison, WI, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.


For those who wish to honor Gary’s memory a donation to the Nature Conservancy is suggested.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island.
