passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at his residence in Poulsbo, Washington, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 15, 1935 in Oilmont, Montana to Leslie and Gertrude Oakley. He was 75 years of age. A successful entrepreneur of several business including what is now Eagle Harbor Marina from 1965 to 1972, also what is now Whitehorn Farm from 1973-1975 and Dockside Sales and Service in Port Orchard from 1976-1983. He was a member of the Cousteau Society, and a Navy Veteran. George loved to explore the waters of the Puget Sound and was accomplished in harvesting its bounty. He and his wife Toppy lived for many years on their beloved yacht the Kalu III docked in Eagle Harbor. He was a master Mechanic and enjoyed working on boats. Hero to many a stranded boater, his kindness and concern stretched across the Puget Sound. He is survived by his children; Michael Oakley of Gig Harbor, WA, Stephen Oakley of Bremerton, WA, Sharla Musabih of Poulsbo, WA and Marcy Trueman of Poulsbo, WA. There are 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharlene (Toppy) Oakley, brother Leslie Oakley Jr. and his parents. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Reception on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Eagle Harbor Marina on Bainbridge Island from 10am - 2pm. Private interment took place at Port Blakely Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Kitsap Mental Health in Bremerton, WA.
