born in Chicago, Illinois on December 1, 1921 passed July 10, 2017 in Poulsbo, WA at the age of 95.Preceded in death by her husband Earl R. Stover, Sr. and son Earl R. Stover, Jr. Gertrude was the eighth of 12 children born to George and Pauline Wojtyna. She and Earl lived in Chicago with her family until moving to Silverdale, WA in 2002.Gert worked at various secretarial positions in Chicago prior to the birth of her 3 children, Barbara (William) Burke, Maureen (James) O'Gara, and the late Earl, Jr. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family and quite an accomplished seamstress. She was also a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout Den mother, volunteered at Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, and was a long-time member of the St. Anne Sodality at St. Ferdinand Church.In addition to her two daughters and sons-in- law, she is survived by her grandchildren, Steve (Kelli) Burke, Susie (Paul) Burke, and Elizabeth O'Gara, as well as great-grandsons Christopher Burke and Greysen McKercher. She is survived by one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.Gertrude will be laid to rest with her husband at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Martha & Mary Rehab Center, PO Box 127, 19160 Front St. NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370 or the Leukemia Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
