Harold Pratt, 69, of Suquamish, WA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 in Silverdale, WA. Harold was born on May 10th, 1956 in Bremerton, WA, and was the youngest son of Mildred (Adams) Pratt. Harold graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1975.
He married Debra Pratt and together they gifted the world with one daughter Brianna (James) Johnston, 32, and one son, Nathanial Pratt, 29.
Harold famously worked as a tribal fisherman since the 1970s, on the Molly B and the Windward alongside his older brother Willie, his best friend Steve Lawrence, JimBob Armstrong, and more. He also practiced his treaty rights, regularly attending whatever digs he could to harvest shellfish. He was a precise and diligent Black Jack dealer at the Clearwater Casino and also worked as a contractor, offering support for many of our families who needed work done to improve their homes and was even part of the crew that helped install the roof at Grover’s Creek Hatchery back in the 80’s.
Harold especially loved walking, when anyone stopped to give a ride, he would kindly decline in order to “get his steps in.” You could always find him jamming to classic rock, watching music videos, cleaning, and rearranging his house (there was always a project to be done.) He was very talented at weaving God’s Eyes for loved ones. He loved watching the Seahawks and the Mariners every week with his longtime friend of 45 years, Reno (Steve.) He enjoyed spending time at the casino and setting world records for activating new cell phones.
Favorite memories of Harold include any outings to sports games in Seattle or going to the movies, the state fair, or family dinners. Harold was a deeply sentimental person, he wore his heart on his sleeve and his generosity reached every person in his community. He was unafraid to talk politics and express his views/feelings. He will always be remembered for his wit, how fast he could think up a joke or a comeback while he was also a historian in his own right, often recounting stories of his family members and role models who worked hard for Native peoples and our rights/ways of life.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Brianna Johnston, son Nathanial Pratt, eldest sister Camilla Pratt, many nieces and nephews, close relatives, his previous spouse Millie, and roughly 20 cats whom he loved, fed, and cared for every day until the very end.
Preceding Harold in death are previous spouses: Debra Pratt and Vicky Pratt
brothers James “Jim” Pratt, Willard “Willy” Pratt, and late sister Agnes “Aggie” Pratt (just 6 months ago.)
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 7th, 2025 at the Suquamish House of Awakened Culture, Viewing at 10 am, and Services at 11 am, followed by a Burial Service. The family invites everyone to join them for a traditional meal at the House of Awakened Culture.
