passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at The Messenger House on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She was born on March 18, 1915 and was 94 years of age. Helen lived on Bainbridge Island for 52 years. She moved from Seattle to the Island. She was a member of Rollingbay Presbyterian Church on Bainbridge Island and a volunteer for The Children's Orthopedic Hospital and a member of the 100 Club of Seattle, Wing Point Golf and Country Club, Bainbridge Island Garden Club and the Bainbridge Island Light Opera Association. Helen majored in music and attended Whitworth College and The University of Washington. She worked for Northwestern Mutual Insurance, Harrison and Crossfield and Unigard. Helen was a choir member of her church and also played the organ. She is survived by her children; Richard Cook of Connecticut and his wife Kerry and Mary Cook of NSW, Australia. She also leaves behind her siblings; Louise Shaw, Frances Beam and Roma Jamison, also Patty Mitchell Moore and Bob Moore of Bellingham, grandchildren Shane Cook, Ethan Cook (Deena)and Kelly Cook Elomina (Ed) of Lynwood. Also her great-grandchildren; Denise, Matthew, Michael, Natasha, Alanna and River. There are also 21 nieces and Nephews many other loving family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Willis H. Cook in 1988 and her siblings Paul Mitchell, Fred Mitchell and Ruth Dawson. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Rollingbay Presbyterian Church, 11042 Sunrise Drive NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110. Memorial contributions can be made to the , Seattle Children's Hospital, Hospice of Kitsap County or Betty Nickum Guild.
