Ila Gayle Barnett

passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at her residence on Bainbridge Island, WA with her family by her side.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Barney (1980) and her cherished daughter Carolyn Gayle Frame (2016.) She is survived by her daughter Pam Robinson and her twin sons Kent and Kurt Barnett, Sister Jayne Wood, 9 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren and dozens of extended family who were proud to call her Grandma. She loved all unconditionally.Gayle, as she liked to be called, was born in Clarkston, WA on April 29, 1925. She was born in her Grandmother's kitchen like her cousins before her. She was part of a large and caring extended family full of loving Aunts, Uncles and cousins. She spent her formative years living amongst them. For that she was always grateful. Gayle met and married the love of her life, Carrell Laverne, "Barney" when she was 15. They found each other in Lewiston, ID and fell immediately in love. They had 6 children by the time she was 21. Her first and third daughters (Sandra and Mary) died in childbirth. Gayle was a wonderful mother. She was a self taught cook and baker who loved to create and sew to the delight of her family. They came home from school to warm breads, cookies and hugs often accompanied by a gaggle of neighborhood children. Gayle was an avid gardener and took great pride in her beautiful roses. The local deer were also appreciative despite her generous application of cougar poop.Gayle was very involved in AA and enjoyed the love and support of her community. She was a source of inspiration and strength for many.Gayle may have left us physically but her spirit remains and lives on through those she has loved and who have loved her.A memorial service will be held at 2pm on September 23, 2017 at the Filipino American Hall on Bainbridge Island.
