passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Island Health & Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was 86 years of age.Jim lived on Bainbridge Island throughout his life. Earlier in life, he worked as an independent contractor in Seattle and Bainbridge Island. He enjoyed hiking, power and sail boating, skiing, traveling and working on his computer. Jim was a "people person" and loved to be with both family and friends.He is survived by his beloved wife Marie Burkheimer, who he married in 1971. He is also survived by his children: Christine Llewellyn of Quilicene, Washington, Clark Burkheimer (Michelle) of Olympia, Washington, his brother-in-law Mac Gardiner of Bainbridge Island, Washington and his dear niece Pamela Edwards of Port Orchard, Washington. There are five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Gardiner in 2006.The family wishes to thank Dr. Maureen Koval at Virginia Mason Clinic, Bainbridge Island, Washington and Dr. John Olsen at Swedish Hospital, Seattle, Washington for their excellent and loving care.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Mission Orthodox Church located at 20714 State Hwy 305 in Poulsbo, WA. [Map]. An evening service will follow the visitation beginning at 6:00 PM at the church. The main funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 11:00 AM also at the church. Interment will follow.A reception will be held after the funeral until 4:00 PM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church - Conger Hall, 1310 Madison Avenue NE on Bainbridge Island [Map].Memorial contributions can be made to the church, 20714 State Hwy. 305, Suite 2-F, Poulsbo, WA. 98370.
